The „Mitte Hitte“ has been a well-known attraction for skiers for many years!
But our restaurant is now becoming the an inside tip for the summer too! Families and hikers appreciate the excellent cuisine and friendly atmosphere.
Not only is it simple to reach us on foot all year round; in summer it's also easy to get to us by car from Sand in Taufers (turn left after the Schlossgarage).

Down-to-earthness, hospitality and tradition

In 1975, the restaurant was purchased by the Niederkofler family and is now lovingly and successfully run by the second generation.
There was previously a lift station next to the building, where you would have to change lifts to reach our famous ski resort and mountains...
hence the name „Mittelstation“ („halfway station“). It is a name synonymous with hospitality, tradition and a down-to-earth attitude.

Bar and Restaurant

Our bar and restaurant are open daily in winter. The kitchen is open until 3.00pm.
In addition to our large terrace, 100 seats on the ground floor and 70 seats on the first floor offer lots of space for our guests.
In summer there are also plenty of parking spaces available.

Surroundings - Speikboden

With the ski resorts Klausberg and Speikboden this valley is a paradise not just for skiers.

The mountains

All kind of leisure activity is possible in the winter in Tauferer Ahrntal Valley.
Beginning with cross-country skiing on wonderful laps, snow shoe-walks, alpine ski touring, sledging, snowboarding, ice-climbing, skating, snowrafting and curling, there is a different leisure sport for every day..
Savourers will get their money worth at the hut-fun on the slopes or at the Après ski at the end of the day. On numerous trails you can discover and enjoy unspoilt winter landscapes.

The towns of the valley include: Lappago, Luttago, Selva dei Molini, Campo Tures, S. Giovanni and Riobianco.

Ski area

Speikboden Bergbahnen is a snow-secure skiing-area in the valley Tauferer-Ahrntal.
It contains 7 cableways with a total transport performance of 11.900 persons/hour. About 80 hectare of slopes has to offer enough liberty for everyone from the summit (2.400 m altitude) to the valley (950 m altitude).
Many alternations of the terrain and very wide slopes make happy beginners and professional skiers. In the summer the Speikboden is fantastic hiking area!
